Welcome to our group’s homepage within the Biological Systems Engineering Department at Virginia Tech. Our lab’s vision is to improve water resources through a combination of fundamental research and application to applied stream / wetland restoration. Our research ranges from examining the effects of climate change on glaciers in Alaska to evaluating the effects of freshwater diversions in the Mississippi River Delta. The goal of our work is to produce tangible results that land managers, policy makers, and other researchers can use to benefit society . Applications include stream/wetland restoration, watershed management, and pollution control. We work closely with other BSE faculty, the Center for Watershed Studies at Virginia Tech, the Cross-Boundary Biogeosciences group at VT, and other scientists within the university and beyond to develop workable and sustainable solutions (e.g. stream restoration) to reduce our impacts on aquatic resources.
